Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient Poor Man’s Peach Cobbler

This easy peach cobbler comes together with just four simple ingredients and a slow cooker. The peaches become tender and syrupy while the cake mix and butter create a soft, buttery cobbler topping.

Servings

6–8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15–16 oz each) sliced peaches in heavy syrup or juice, undrained
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix, dry
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or apple pie spice)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Slow Cooker

Lightly grease a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker with butter or nonstick cooking spray.

Step 2: Add the Cake Mix

Pour the dry yellow cake mix evenly into the bottom of the slow cooker.

Do not prepare the cake mix according to the package directions.

Step 3: Add the Cinnamon

Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the dry cake mix.

Step 4: Add the Peaches

Pour the canned peaches and all of their liquid directly over the cake mix.

Try to distribute the peaches evenly across the surface.

Do not stir.

Step 5: Drizzle with Butter

Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the top, covering as much of the dry cake mix as possible.

Again, do not stir.

Step 6: Cook

Cover and cook on:

  • HIGH for 2–3 hours, or
  • LOW for 4–5 hours

The cobbler is ready when the peaches are bubbling and the topping is set and lightly golden around the edges.

Step 7: Rest

Turn off the slow cooker and let the cobbler rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.

This helps the filling thicken slightly.

Step 8: Serve

Spoon into bowls and serve warm.

Optional Toppings

  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel sauce
  • Chopped pecans
  • Extra cinnamon

Storage

  • Refrigerator: Up to 4 days in an airtight container.
  • Freezer: Up to 2 months.

Tips

  • Peaches packed in heavy syrup will produce a sweeter cobbler than peaches packed in juice.
  • If some dry cake mix remains on top after adding the butter, that’s normal. It will hydrate as the cobbler cooks.
  • Apple pie spice can be substituted for cinnamon for a warmer flavor profile.
