Butter Cookies with Jam

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Your favorite jam (strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter & Sugar
    In a bowl, beat butter and powdered sugar until light and creamy.
  3. Add Egg & Vanilla
    Mix in egg yolk and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients
    Gradually add flour and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Shape Cookies
    Roll dough into small balls and place on the baking tray.
    Press your thumb gently in the center of each cookie.
  6. Add Jam
    Fill each indentation with about ½ teaspoon jam.
  7. Bake
    Bake for 12–15 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool & Enjoy
    Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Tips

  • Don’t overfill with jam — it may spill while baking.
  • Chill dough 10 minutes if too soft.
  • Dust with powdered sugar after cooling for a bakery look ✨

Storage

  • Room temperature: up to 5 days
  • Airtight container recommended
