Ingredient Beef Puff Pastry Twists

These 4-Ingredient Beef Puff Pastry Twists are an easy appetizer made with flaky puff pastry, seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, and a golden egg wash. They look impressive but require very little effort, making them perfect for parties, game days, family snacks, or a quick lunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup cooked and seasoned ground beef, completely cooled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Tip: Make sure the cooked beef has cooled before adding it to the pastry. Warm filling can soften the puff pastry and make the twists harder to seal and shape.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Pastry: Lightly flour your work surface and place the thawed puff pastry on it. If needed, gently roll it into an even rectangle.
  3. Add the Filling: Spread the cooled seasoned ground beef over one half of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar evenly over the beef.
  4. Fold and Seal: Fold the empty half of the pastry over the filling. Gently press the edges together to seal the filling inside.
  5. Cut Into Strips: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.
  6. Twist: Carefully twist each strip 2–3 times, then arrange the twists on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  7. Brush With Egg: Lightly brush each twist with the beaten egg. This creates a shiny, golden finish as they bake.
  8. Bake: Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and beautifully golden brown.
  9. Cool and Serve: Let the twists cool for a few minutes before serving, as the beef and cheese filling will remain hot.

For variations, try mozzarella instead of cheddar, or add finely chopped peppers, onions, jalapeños, smoked paprika, or Italian seasoning to the beef. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat them in a 375°F oven for 5–8 minutes to help restore their crisp texture. For variations, try mozzarella instead of cheddar, or add finely chopped peppers, onions, jalapeños, smoked paprika, or Italian seasoning to the beef.
